CD Review - Seven Sisters by The Javelinas

"Whether you're talking about the flat out rockin' opener "Seven Sisters" which is about the American working man or the more rootsy "The 102", you can count on Javelinas to churn out a solid song that rocks from start to finish and is guaranteed to warrant repeat listens. Seventies rock, punk, Americana... it's all there in one form or another."

Review:

This is one of the best Alt-Country/Rock/Americana CDs I have ever heard and to be honest "Seven Sisters" provides the type of musical thrills that went out of style when the Rolling Stones peaked thirty years ago. Lead singer Chris McInnis has an unassuming confidence and swagger and plays a kick-ass harp on the track "SSA" to boot. Lead guitarist Spiv (check out his slide work on "Illinois Line") really stands out on this release. I am a fan of the genre (If you are like me you dig on Wilco, Uncle Tupelo, Ryan Adams, Golden Smog, Son Volt, Jayhawks, etc.) and Seven Sisters" stands toe-to-toe with the best.

My favorite songs are "Seven Sisters" , "Homebound", "Red Shoes" and "Havana Hurricane Warning" . But there is not a bad song on this CD so ask me in an hour and I might tell you my favorites are four different cuts. Delve deeply into this CD, I promise you won't be disappointed.

About The Javelinas

Javelinas Relaxing

JAVELINAS hold the gas can and the torch to the bonfire saluting years of growing up listening, learning, burning into their souls cassettes/vinyl/8trk of the history of Rock music from the late 60’s, through the massive explosion of the 70’s rock gods, punk underground and Americana roots. Years of experience, triumphs, disasters, grand slams, depressions and realizations are the grounds for an amazing rock and roll machine. This is what the kids of today lack, and this is what makes JAVELINAS such a monster.

JAVELINAS are the real deal of a life of rock and roll: succeedeing, failing and constantly gaining rock and roll/life experience, eating the dirt that bands don’t anymore eat. Burned up fuel, shredded tires, bled inner souls, lost hearing, and the containment of the rightfully EARNED “F**k you” that lies just under the smile in the promo photo are at the core of every JAVELINAS track, live performance, and interview. Truth, passion, drive and EXPERIENCE are what make JAVELINAS the honest, mighty rock and roll engine that they are.

Rock and roll music. Guitars, drums, and blood letting stories are the core of JAVELINAS. 4pc rock and roll band that proudly carry an open book of where we’ve been, where we desire to be, and what we are working on. No padding the ledger. JAVELINAS IS WHAT IT IS.
